HDFC Life Leads Gainers On Nifty 50, NTPC, Tata Motors Also See Sharp Gains

Today’s trading session witnessed a mixed bag of performances in the NIFTY 50 index. HDFC Life emerged as the top gainer, while Bajaj Finserv bore the brunt as the biggest loser. The benchmark index went down 0.27% to close at 24,413.50 points.

Leading the pack of gainers, HDFC Life saw a significant surge of 4.48% from its last close, with the current price standing at ₹672.80.

Following closely, BPCL registered a gain of 2.92%, with the current price at ₹314.95. Next in line, Tech Mahindra marked a 2.67% increase, taking its current price to ₹1533.30.

Adding to the list of gainers, NTPC and Tata Motors witnessed a rise of 2.65% and 2.58% respectively.

On the flip side, Bajaj Finserv took a hit with a 2.45% drop, making it the top loser of the day. The slump today comes after the company posted its earnings for the June quarter in the afternoon.

Tata Consumer Products recorded a 2.04% decrease, with the current price at ₹1231.25. Adding to the list of losers, Britannia and Axis Bank suffered a fall of 1.94% and 1.90% respectively. The stocks closed at ₹5829.50 and ₹1239.25, marking a challenging trading session.

Lastly, Bajaj Finance saw a decline of 1.78%, with the current price at ₹6607.15.

“After showing a sharp upside recovery from the lows on Tuesday (Union Budget day), Nifty continued with weakness amidst a range movement on Wednesday and closed the day lower by 65 points. After opening on a negative note, Nifty showed a further decline in the early to mid-part of the session. Upside recovery has emerged from the day’s low and Nifty finally closed the day lower,” said Nagaraj Shetti, senior technical research analyst at HDFC Securities.
