Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) reported its results for the first quarter of financial year 2025 on Tuesday.

What Happened: The fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) giant reported a 2.7% jump in its net profit. The company's net profit stood at ₹2,538 crore versus ₹2,472 crore a year ago. This was largely in line with analysts' expectations of muted earnings. The figure was higher than last quarter's net profit of ₹2,406 crore.

HUL's standalone total revenue stood at ₹15,596 crore for the April to June period, up 1.7% from ₹15,333 crore in the year-ago quarter. In the quarter ended March, the company recorded a revenue of ₹15,077 crore.

The firm's home care segment saw a revenue of ₹5,675 crore, revenue from the beauty products division came in at ₹3,199 crore, revenue from personal care products stood at ₹2,386 crore and food and refreshment segment clocked a revenue of ₹3,850 crore.

Near-Term Outlook: The company expects FMCG and rural demand to see a gradual improvement. It expects EBITDA margins to remain at the current level and sees a near-zero price growth if commodity prices remain where they are, the company said.

Earlier this month, HUL divested its Pureit water purifier business. The vertical was sold to global water tech company A.O. Smith's India arm for ₹601 crore. The sale had no effect on the financial results for the quarter.

HUL is the company behind some of the most famous consumer brands including Dove, Bru, Wheel and Axe among others. Earlier in the day, the company’s stock made gains after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a slew of measures to boost rural consumption in her Budget 2024 speech.

Price Action: Shares of Hindustan Unilever Limited closed 1.12% at ₹2,766 on Tuesday.
