Infosys Lone Bright Spot As Nifty Crashes Over 1% On Friday

On Friday, Nifty 50 closed 1.09% down at 24,530.90. The benchmark index also hit its all-time high of 24,854.80.

Infosys topped the charts, with its stock price climbing to ₹1792.95, a 1.99% increase from its last closing at ₹1758.05, setting a positive tone for the day. Infosys climbed to an all-time high after it posted strong Q1 results.

Following Infosys, ITC also showed positive momentum, trading at ₹474.55, reflecting a 0.91% increase. Asian Paints and Britannia followed suit with modest gains.

Conversely, Tata Steel led the declines, its stock plummeting to ₹157.77, a sharp 5.16% drop.

BPCL and JSW Steel also recorded significant losses, both decreasing by 4.51%. Hindalco and ONGC completed the list of the five major underperformers, each with notable declines.

Vinod Nair, head of research, Geojit Financial Services said, “The domestic market closed today with a downturn due to the global sell-off, triggered by operating system issues that caused devices to crash worldwide. The global IT outrage has led to disruptions in various Indian industries. The overvalued market is also experiencing profit booking ahead of the budget next week. The recent performance has been bullish in anticipation of pro-industry and populist measures.”
