Larsen & Toubro‘s (L&T) Energy Hydrocarbon division has secured another offshore order from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the eighth phase of the Pipeline Replacement Project.

What Happened: The announcement was made by L&T on Monday. The order involves engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of 129-kilometre subsea pipelines and associated modification works across India’s west coast offshore fields of the ONGC.

Subramanian Sarma, whole-time director and president of energy at L&T, said on the win: “This order reflects ONGC's continued confidence in L&T, and this emanates from our track record of successfully delivering complex offshore projects. This order further demonstrates L&T’s unwavering commitment to India's energy requirement.”

The order is classified as significant by the construction giant, which indicates that it is worth between ₹1,000 crore to ₹2,500 crore.

Why It Matters: This new order comes on the heels of a series of significant wins for L&T. Last month, L&T secured a major offshore contract from ONGC for the Daman Upside Development Project-Wellhead Platforms & Pipelines (DUDP-WP).

The project involved the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning of four Wellhead Platforms, a 140-kilometre pipeline and associated topside modifications at the Tapti Daman block, off India's west coast.

On June 24, L&T bagged an order to construct a solar and energy Storage plant in Bihar. The power transmission and distribution (PT&D) division of L&T secured a domestic order to erect a grid-connected 185-megawatt solar photovoltaic plant as well as a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 254 megawatt-hours.
