Microsoft and Proximus Group, the parent company of Route Mobile, have entered into a strategic alliance for a period of five years. The partnership aims to strengthen their digital footprint and expedite innovative solutions for their customers in Belgium and beyond.

What Happened: A press release from Proximus S.A. revealed a strategic collaboration with Microsoft on Thursday. The partnership is set to enhance digital communications and cloud services, as per the press release.

The collaboration will concentrate on three primary areas: Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS) and Digital Identity (DI) Collaboration, strategic cloud transformation, and improved go-to-market for Proximus.

The announcement sent the shares of the company rocketing. Route Mobile’s share price soared up 9% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,794.70.

Microsoft will utilise the products of Proximus’ international affiliates BICS, Telesign, and Route Mobile, while Proximus will leverage Microsoft’s Azure Cloud, taking advantage of all innovative AI & Data developments.

The partnership is anticipated to stimulate innovation in customer communication and security services, enhance scalability, speed up market delivery, and bolster security. It will also enable Proximus to optimise its reseller role for Microsoft products and services in Belgium.

This partnership comes on the heels of Route Mobile’s recent expansion of its WhatsApp-based ticketing service. The expansion led to a 17.5% jump in Route Mobile’s shares, demonstrating the potential of digital communication services.
