Aircel founder Chinnakannan Sivasankaran shared a story of the time when he and Ratan Tata were travelling in a plane whose engine failed midway.

What Happened: In a podcast with Raj Shamani, he detailed that they were travelling from Singapore to Seychelles in a Tata Group plane. “I was sleeping. I was tired. His secretary woke me up, I thought ok, Seychelles has come. But he said we have a problem. One engine failed,” Sivasankaran added.

The secretary then told him that if the other engine also failed, they would die in 30 minutes. Hearing all this, a worried Sivasankaran wrote to his son sharing details with him and also to share an emotional moment.

While all this was happening, he said that Ratan Tata was calm and was not panicking at all. “He said let the pilots do their job,” Sivasankaran said about Ratan Tata’s reaction to the whole event.

He has always been appreciated for his calm and humble nature even so when he was running the biggest conglomerate in the country.
