Air India has introduced premium economy cabins on select domestic routes in its new A320 planes.

What Happened: Air India, the national carrier, has rolled out premium economy cabins for certain domestic routes, according to a report by CNBCTV18. This new feature is aimed at providing an elevated travel experience to passengers.

The service will be available from July 1, 2024, on 10 flights in Delhi-Bengaluru and Delhi-Chandigarh routes.

The move to introduce premium economy cabins is a part of the airline’s continuous efforts to enhance passenger comfort and satisfaction. The Tata-backed airline will introduce a three-class configuration to its entire narrowbody fleet in 2025.

In this configuration, there will be eight seats in Business, 24 extra legroom seats in premium economy and 132 comfortable seats in economy.

The passengers will also get subtle cabin mood lighting, spacious legroom and features like portable electronic device (PED) holders and USB ports to charge mobile phones, laptops and other gadgets.
