Boat CEO Aman Gupta recently took to social media to shout out Bollywood’s Alia Bhatt for being the face of a giant Gucci billboard in Florence, Italy.
What Happened: Gupta, one of the investors on Shark Tank India, shared a story on Instagram on Monday that showed Alia Bhatt’s face on an Italian hoarding for the luxury brand, saying it “Felt nice to see an Indian face on an international billboard”.

In a tongue-in-cheek way, Gupta added a version of the popular Italian song “Bella Ciao” as background music for the story. It’s worth noting that Gucci is a luxury Italian brand that was born out of Florence itself, adding another layer of irony to the fact that an Indian actress should adorn its billboard in its birthplace.
The post also reveals the global influence that India and Bollywood have come to command in recent years as well as the push by international brands to grow their appeal among a growing section of wealthy consumers in India.
