What Happened: According to a company press release issued on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, the B&F division of Larsen & Toubro has secured multiple contracts across India. The company has been commissioned by the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, Hyderabad, to construct a super-speciality hospital in Gachibowli. L&T has also won an order for the construction of an office space in Mumbai, with an approximate built-up area of 13 lakh sq ft. The project, slated for completion in 20 months, includes civil and composite steel structures for 2B+G+6P+18 office floors. This order underscores the client’s trust in L&T’s expertise in executing fast-track steel structures with composite steel technology.

The orders are classified under the "significant" category by the construction giant, which means it could be worth around ₹1,000-₹2,500 crore

Why It Matters: These new orders come on the heels of Larsen & Toubro securing a major offshore contract from the Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) for the Daman Upside Development Project-Wellhead Platforms & Pipelines (DUDP-WP). The Hydrocarbon vertical of the company, L&T Energy, was awarded the contract, which involves the engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of four Wellhead Platforms, a 140-km Pipeline, and associated Topside modifications at the Tapti Daman block, off India's west coast. The order is classified under the "large" category by the construction giant, which means it could be worth around ₹2,500-₹5,000 crore.
