The Tata Group has managed to secure the IPL’s title sponsorship for an additional five-year term, from 2024 to 2028, for an estimated $300 million (₹2,506 crore). This move further solidifies the IPL’s status as a crucial platform for esteemed brands aiming to boost their value.
Despite not qualifying for the playoffs in 2024, CSK remains the most valued franchise with a brand value of $231 million (₹1,930 crore), marking a 9% growth from the previous year. The 2024 IPL winners, Kolkata Knight Riders, witnessed the highest growth, with a 19.3% rise from 2023 to $216 million (₹1,804 crore).
Why It Matters: The IPL has been attracting substantial private equity investments in recent years. Firms like CVC Capital and Redbird Capital have acquired stakes in IPL franchises, contributing to the league’s increased valuation. The IPL’s continued growth and appeal to global audiences have made it an attractive platform for brands and investors alike. The sustained increase in the league’s business and brand values, despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, is a testament to its resilience and popularity.
