Pritish Nath, an Assistant Executive Engineer at Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC), is living proof that perseverance pays off. Working at a gas processing plant, Pritish enjoys his job’s stability and quality of life. But the journey to this point was anything but smooth.

What to know: After graduating in 2014 from a Tier C college with what he describes as “Zero Aim,” Pritish faced an uphill battle from the start. The early years of his career were marked by failed written exams and a string of unsuccessful job interviews.

Over four gruelling years, he faced rejection after rejection — 12 interviews passed without a single job offer. Each failure was a hit to his spirit, but Pritish didn’t give up.

Adding to his challenges, Pritish lost his father during this critical period. As the only son, the weight of family responsibilities fell squarely on his shoulders, further blurring his career path. Yet, despite the personal and professional setbacks, he kept his eyes on the prize. His relentless preparation and dedication to self-improvement finally paid off when he landed his first job as a Site Engineer at RVNL, a PSU under the Ministry of Railways.

But Pritish’s story didn't end there. He continued to push, balancing work with intense study sessions. His persistence led to a breakthrough on December 5, 2018, when he secured a Group A position as an Assistant Engineer with the State Electricity Board on his 13th interview attempt.

Still not satisfied, Pritish aimed higher, continuing to prepare for the UPSC exams and other opportunities. His hard work eventually led him to ONGC, where he now enjoys a fulfilling career that justifies all the hardships he endured. At ONGC, Pritish finally feels the reward of his persistent efforts, living a quality life and enjoying the fruits of his labour.
