The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has said investors should be wary of fake videos that depicts its heads sharing investment advice.

What Happened: The NSE has alerted investors about fake audio and video clips circulating online that feature a manipulated likeness of CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan. These fraudulent clips, created using sophisticated technology, falsely mimic Chauhan’s voice and facial expressions as well as the NSE logo to depict him as giving investment advice, the exchange said.

NSE has made it clear that no employee, including the CEO, is authorised to recommend stocks or provide investment tips. The exchange is actively working to have these deceptive videos removed from various platforms.

Stick To The Official: For accurate information, investors should only rely on official communications from NSE’s verified channels, including their website and social media accounts, the bourse said in a statement. This advisory aims to protect investors from falling prey to misleading information.

NSE, the world's largest derivatives exchange by trading volume and a leader in equity trading, continues to prioritise the integrity and security of its communication and operations, it added.

In recent times, celebrities such as Sachin Tendulkar and Rashmika Mandanna have fallen victim to artificial intelligence-produced deep fakes.
