Ashish Chauhan, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) CEO announced that the stock exchange handled a world-record number of transactions on June 5.
What Happened: Chauhan tweeted that the NSE had processed an unprecedented number of transactions within a single trading day of 6 hours and 15 minutes. The exchange handled 19.71 billion orders (1971 crore) and 280.55 million (28.05 crore) trades, setting a new global record.

NSE witnessed record transactions as markets recovered on Wednesday after Tuesday’s selloff which was caused by the incumbent BJP’s failure to secure a majority in Lok Sabha on their own.
On Wednesday, the Nifty 50 index rose by 3.36% to 22,620.35 points, and the Sensex increased by 3.20% to end at 74,382.24 points. All 50 stocks in the Nifty ended the day in green. Markets surged as NDA coalition partners assured of support to the government, paving the return of Narendra Modi for historic a third term.
