In a significant move to boost cloud adoption and AI solutions in India, Bharti Airtel Limited and Google Cloud have announced a long-term strategic partnership.

What Happened: The announcement of this strategic alliance was made on Monday. This collaboration will see Airtel’s robust connectivity and distribution channels merging with Google Cloud’s advanced AI technologies. Airtel has also created a cutting-edge IoT solution that integrates connectivity, Google Cloud AI services, and application software.

The partnership is designed to exploit the rapidly growing Indian public cloud services market, which is expected to hit $17.8 billion by 2027, as per IDC. To support this initiative, Airtel has established a dedicated managed services centre in Pune, housing over 300 experts trained to master both Google Cloud and digital services.

Gopal Vittal, CEO, Bharti Airtel, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “As India accelerates its digital transformation, cutting-edge cloud and AI solutions will be at the heart and centre of this change. We are happy to partner with Google Cloud and jointly address this market opportunity with secure and scalable Cloud solutions for government, enterprises, and emerging businesses.”

Airtel intends to utilize Google Cloud’s generative AI capabilities to revolutionize its customer experiences and interactions across its mobile, broadband, and digital TV offerings. Additionally, the telecom giant plans to streamline its internal processes and operations. These advanced capabilities will also be extended to Airtel’s B2B customers in India and globally, marking a significant stride in the country’s digital transformation journey.
