JioCinema, the streaming service of Viacom18, has announced a major price reduction for its premium content, including Hollywood movies and TV shows, with new subscription plans starting as low as ₹29 a month, Viacom18 declared on April 25.
What Happened: This marks a drastic drop from the previous rate of ₹99 per month or ₹999 annually, which allowed streaming on up to four devices simultaneously but included advertisements.
Additionally, JioCinema introduced a “family plan” for ₹89 a month, providing the benefit of four simultaneous screen views. Existing premium members of JioCinema can enjoy the added advantages of the “family plan” without additional cost.
Viacom18 Digital CEO Kiran Mani emphasized that the new pricing strategy, which features 4K streaming, high-quality audio, offline viewing, and no device restrictions, aims to make quality entertainment accessible to all of India.

What to know: The updated plans offer ad-free content and access to exclusive series and movies in five languages on any device, including connected TVs. This includes popular titles like Game of Thrones, House of The Dragon, and films like Oppenheimer and Barbie, now also available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, and Marathi.
Premium members also gain access to major global series and movie premieres through partnerships with leading studios like Peacock, HBO, Paramount, and Warner Bros Discovery.
Moreover, members receive early access to content from TV channels such as Colors and Nickelodeon, and over 20 Viacom18 Network TV channels that are available for streaming.
The platform will continue to offer sports content, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), and thousands of hours of entertainment content for free with its ad-supported model.
