Bhavish Aggarwal’s AI venture, Krutrim, is teaming up with Intel to harness the power of the newly launched Gaudi 3 chip to help pre-train and fine-tune its first India foundational model with generative capabilities in 10 languages.

What Happened: Intel threw down the gauntlet at its Intel Vision 2024 conference on Tuesday, unveiling the Gaudi 3 chip. This latest addition to Intel’s arsenal aims to outpace Nvidia’s dominance in the AI chip market, promising faster training of language models and quicker generative AI responses. Amid a global chip shortage, Intel’s move seeks to meet the growing demand for advanced AI technologies.

Krutrim stands among Intel’s key collaborations, aiming to pre-train and refine AI models that resonate with India’s linguistic diversity.

The startup’s vision extends to crafting a personal assistant that embodies the nuances of Indian culture, bridging the tech gap with a platform that’s truly “Indian at heart.”

Despite a minor hiccup with a data leak issue earlier this year, Krutrim is set to simplify a range of tasks from email writing to travel planning, tailored to the Indian consumer's preferences and languages.

Among the list of Intel's enterprise customers benefiting from the Gaudi accelerator solutions alongside Krutrim, are giants Bharti Airtel and Infosys.

Airtel plans to leverage telecom data to enhance AI capabilities and Infosys aims to infuse Intel tech into its services, particularly Infosys Topaz, to speed up business processes with AI.
