What Happened: According to a report by The Economic Times, Samsung retailers across Maharashtra have initiated protests over unpaid dues. The outstanding amount is a hefty ₹50 crore. The report, however, did not elaborate on the nature of these dues or the reasons for non-payment. The ball is now in Samsung’s court to address these protests and find a resolution.
The state retailer association has voiced concerns regarding what they perceive as inaction within Samsung’s teams after commitments were made to clear pending dues. These dues stemmed from a shift in distributorship within the region.

The unpaid dues have been allegedly pending since last year. The claims made by the retailers, which include over 5,000-6,000 mobile phone retailers primarily in Maharashtra, encompass payments of margins and certain schemes offered by Samsung. The smartphone company had asked retailers to provide discounts to consumers under these schemes. The current protests indicate a growing discontent among the retailers over the unresolved issue.
