Why This Founder Hid His Fitness Ring Under A Rock Before His U.S. Visa Interview

A startup founder recently took to social media platform X to share a hilarious anecdote from when he was applying for a U.S. visa.

What Happened: Deepak Abbot, founder of digital gold platform Indiagold, shared his experience during a U.S. visa appointment, highlighting the strict rules around carrying electronics and his quick thinking to solve an issue.

Abbot said that when he arrived for the interview, he was denied entry due to wearing an Ultrahuman fitness ring, an electronic device not permitted inside.

Caught in a bind, Abbot said he decided to take a page from his grandfather’s book when the latter was leaving Pakistan. Abbot buried the ring outside the consulate, marking the spot with a stone, before retrieving it after his appointment.

“Only difference – I went back and took it back,” Abbot quipped.

Abbot’s tweet ended with a lesson for others who seek to travel to the US: “Do not carry any electronics to US visa interview.”
