WhatsApp is on the verge of introducing a slew of new features aimed at enhancing user interaction and streamlining the app’s functionality. Among the updates, users can look forward to ‘Status Mention’ and ‘Chat Filtering,’ designed to make communication smoother and more organized.

What to know: According to WABetainfo, WhatsApp plans to bring in ‘UPI QR Code Scanning,’ ‘Locked Chats,’ and the ability to ‘PIN Messages’ and ‘Copy and Paste’ images without a hitch. A standout fix makes copying and pasting images within chats a breeze, addressing a common user complaint.

Also on the horizon is the ability to pin multiple messages, helping users keep important conversations front and centre. WhatsApp expects to release this feature, currently in beta testing, to the broader community shortly.

Chat organization will see a boost with ‘Chat Filters,’ allowing for quick sorting of messages into categories like ‘Group Chats,’ ‘Read,’ ‘Unread,’ and ‘Individual Chats.’ Additionally, the updated chat pinning capability will discard the current limit of three. Users will thus be able to pin as many chats as they wish.

A new feature named ‘Status Mention,’ is also in the works, notifying users when they’re mentioned in someone’s status. This move aims to foster greater engagement and ensure no mention goes unnoticed.
