FMCG major Nestlé India also faced a downturn, with a 1.95% decrease in its stock price. The stock ended the day at ₹2538.65, compared to its last close at ₹2589.10.
IT giant Infosys and insurance provider SBI Life Insurance also experienced a dip in their stock prices, with a decline of 1.88% and 1.76% respectively. Infosys closed at ₹1606.50, while SBI Life Insurance ended the day at ₹1491.25.
After a volatile trading session, the Indian benchmark indices closed lower. The Sensex ended the day down 195.16 points or 0.26% at 73,677.13, while the Nifty was down 49.30 points or 0.22% at 22,356.30.
The sectoral performance was mixed, with the auto index gaining 1.3% led by Tata Motors and Bajaj Auto and the PSU Bank index rising by 2.5%. On the other hand, the IT and FMCG indices shed 1% each, while sectors like oil & gas, power, and realty managed to gain around 0.5% each.
