Google's Gemini AI Chatbot Expands Reach To Android Users In India: Here's How To Use It

Google’s innovative Gemini app is now reaching Android users in India, expanding its footprint beyond the initial US-only release on February 8. The app, featuring cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, is broadening its availability to over 150 countries and territories. iPhone users, while not having a dedicated app, can access Gemini’s features through a new toggle on the Google app.

What Happened? The Gemini mobile app, supporting English, Korean, and Japanese, caters to a global audience with its comprehensive language options. The full list of supported countries is detailed on Google’s support page. For iOS users, Gemini’s AI is accessible on the Google app version 17.2.1, verified by Gadgets 360.

To utilize Gemini, Android smartphones need a minimum of 4GB RAM and must operate on Android 12 or newer. iPhone owners require iOS 16 or above. Devices set to English, Japanese, and Korean currently support the service. Users need to sign into their personal Google Account or a Workspace account with the features enabled. The global rollout began on Thursday and will continue in the coming days.

Jack Krawczyk, Senior Director of Product at Google, recently hinted at eased restrictions on Gemini’s image uploading and generation capabilities. He emphasized the ongoing efforts to balance content refusals responsibly for both images and text. Further enhancements and regional expansions are underway.

Addressing user concerns about Gemini’s capabilities compared to Google Assistant, Krawczyk acknowledged the need for clarity on available features and those still in development. He reassured users that they are actively working to bridge this gap.
