Today’s trading session on the NIFTY 50 index witnessed some significant movements. The top performers were Bharat Petroleum Corporation and Tata Consultancy Services, while the bottom performers included Tech Mahindra and Cipla.

Leading the pack of gainers was Bharat Petroleum Corporation, with a current price of ₹623.65, showing a robust increase of 6.73% from its last close at ₹584.29.

Following BPCL, State Bank of India also showed a strong performance with a current price of ₹743.40, marking a 4.20% increase from its last close at ₹713.45.

Other notable gainers include Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and Coal India which registered a 3.60% and 3.09% increase in their stock prices respectively. Axis Bank also made it to the top gainers list with a 2.44% increase in its stock price.

On the flip side, the stocks that didn’t fare well in today’s trading session were led by Tech Mahindra. The stock saw a decline of 2.68%, making it the worst performer of the day. The stock’s current price stands at ₹1,292.90, down from its last close at ₹1,328.45.

Following Tech Mahindra, Cipla also experienced a dip in its stock price. The stock’s current price is ₹1425.35, marking a 2.22% decrease from its last close at ₹1457.75.

Other stocks that saw a decline include Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Tata Consultancy Services with a decrease of 1.41%, 1.22%, and 1.19% in their stock prices respectively.

Indian benchmark indices closed in the green after a highly volatile market session, with the Nifty surpassing the 21,800 mark. The Sensex concluded the day with a gain of 277.98 points or 0.39%, reaching 71,833.17, while the Nifty rose by 96.70 points or 0.44%, closing at 21,840. Among the sectors, PSU Bank and Oil & Gas indices saw a notable increase of 3% each. Additionally, sectors such as auto, bank, FMCG, capital goods, metal, power, and realty also witnessed gains of 1.2%each. However, the Information Technology and Pharma indices experienced a decline of 1% each.
