India’s tablet market experienced robust growth in Q4 2023, with a 21% quarter-on-quarter increase, primarily driven by strong demand for 5G and premium devices, as per data released by CyberMedia Research (CMR).

What Happened: The CMR’s Tablet PC Market Report Review for Q4 2023 revealed a 43% YoY increase in 5G tablet shipments, accounting for a significant portion of the market. Wi-Fi tablets also saw a 13% YoY increase, making up 52% of total shipments.

The premium tablet segment, priced between ₹20,000-30,000, saw a remarkable 95% QoQ jump, indicating a clear preference for high-end devices.

Apple Inc. continued to lead the market with a 25% share, followed by Lenovo at 24% and Samsung at 19%. However, the Cupertino giant has witnessed a significant drop in market share that stood at around 37% in Q4 2022. During the quarter ending December 2023, Apple tablet PC shipments declined by 17% on a year-over-year (YoY) basis.

Despite a 14% YoY decline in overall tablet shipments in CY2023, 5G tablet shipments grew by 48% YoY, indicating a potential shift in consumer preferences towards 5G-enabled devices.

CMR predicts a steady 5-10% growth in the tablet market for 2024, driven by technological advancements, diverse product offerings, and evolving consumer preferences.
