State Bank Of India Leads NIFTY 50 Gainers, Tech Mahindra Among Top Losers

On Tuesday, the NIFTY 50 index saw a mixed bag of performances with State Bank of India (SBI) leading the pack of gainers and Tech Mahindra among the top losers.

Axis Bank saw its share price increasing by 1.81% to ₹1,069.10, up from its last close at ₹1,050.05.

Next in line was HDFC Life Insurance Company, which saw a 2.09% rise in its stock price, closing at ₹605.15 compared to the previous day’s close of ₹592.75. JSW Steel also made it to the top performers’ list with a 2.18% increase in its stock price, closing at ₹836.60, up from ₹818.75 on the previous trading day.

Grasim Industries witnessed a 2.20% hike in its stock price, closing at ₹2,111.50, compared to ₹2,066.00 at the last close. However, the star performer of the day was the State Bank of India, which saw a 3.84% rise in its stock price, closing at ₹675.25, a substantial increase from its last close at ₹650.25.

On the flip side, Tech Mahindra led the list of losers with a 2.44% drop in its stock price, closing at ₹1318.00, down from its last close at ₹1351.05. Power Grid Corporation of India also saw a decline in its stock price by 2.29%, closing at ₹267.95, down from ₹274.25 at the last close.

Infosys witnessed a 2.06% decrease in its stock price, closing at ₹1693.75, down from its last close at ₹1729.45. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone saw a 1.37% drop in its stock price, closing at ₹1255.65, down from ₹1273.10 at the last close.

Lastly, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) experienced a 1.27% decrease in its stock price, closing at ₹4083.40, down from its last close at ₹4136.00.

Indian benchmark indices experienced a flat close in a highly volatile session, influenced by anticipation of the RBI policy outcome. The Sensex ended down 34.09 points (0.05%) at 72,152.00, while the Nifty was marginally up by 1.10 points (0.01%) at 21,930.50. In terms of sectors, PSU Bank, metal, power, pharma, and realty showed gains ranging from 0.5% to 3%, while the Information Technology index saw a decline of 1%.
