In a move to bolster collaboration and connectivity on Microsoft Teams for Indian businesses, Tata Communications has joined forces with Microsoft.

What Happened: Tata Communications announced on Thursday that it would be leveraging its GlobalRapide platform to enable carrier-grade PSTN voice calls on any Teams device worldwide, via the Operator Connect platform.

The partnership is designed to provide a regulatory-compliant cloud calling and audio-conferencing capability, capitalising on Tata Communications’ expansive reach across 190 countries and its alliances with over 700 mobile network operators. The announcement comes as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is currently visiting India.

GlobalRapide also offers enhanced fraud prevention and strict compliance with local market regulations, enabling businesses to securely engage and collaborate with their global value chain.

Sriram Sampath, vice president of unified communications & collaboration at Tata Communications, said, “Our collaboration with Microsoft on Operator Connect for Teams will further enhance workforce productivity and efficiency for enterprises while helping them abide by the local regulations and compliance."

Shruti Bhatia, country head, modern work and surface, India and South Asia, Microsoft, echoed the sentiment, stating that the partnership underlines their commitment to delivering greater efficiencies and productivity gains for businesses across India.
