Similarly, the Sensex rose over 2% to hit an intraday high of 73,089.40 before settling at 72,085.63, up 440 points, or 0.61%. Notably, the oil & gas sector led the gains with a 4% increase, while other sectors like Information Technology, metal, realty, and power also witnessed notable upticks ranging from 1% to 2%. However, the bank index experienced a decline of 0.5%.
