OpenAI’s ChatGPT was down on Thursday, potentially impacting all free users. The company said it is currently investigating the issue.
What Happened: The artificial intelligence-powered chatbot was suffering from “degraded service” and pages were loading slower than normal, OpenAI’s website said.
“We are continuing to investigate the issue,” the company said on its updates page.

ChatGPT’s interface was having trouble loading and was not consistently replying to prompts.
There was a massive spike in reported outages for ChatGPT on the website status-tracking Downdetector over the last couple of hours.
Many users took to social media platform X to share the issues they were facing with the chatbot.
“I think for the last 30 to 40 minutes it says “Internal Server Error“. What’s happening in OpenAI’s server?” one user asked on the social media platform.
However, the paid version, running on the ChatGPT-4 model, was still working as expected, as tested by the Benzinga India team.
