Google Pixel's Call Screening Feature Could Be Coming To India Soon

Google Pixel’s innovative call screening feature that debuted back in 2018 is making its way to India, supporting both Hindi and English languages. This expansion is part of Google’s broader initiative to extend call screening capabilities to more countries, enhancing user experience across various regions.

What to know: Call screening, a feature utilizing Google Assistant, offers users the ability to have calls answered on their behalf. It provides information about the caller and presents a range of options for handling the call, including declining, asking for more details, accepting the call, or leaving a message.

This feature, initially available in countries like Australia, Canada, France, and the US, is now accessible in India, even though there hasn’t been an official claim from Google just yet.

The integration of call screening in India was first noticed by a Reddit user who successfully enabled it on a OnePlus 7 device running AOSPA 14 Custom ROM. By using the GappsMod magisk module available on GitHub, along with downloading Hindi language packages, users can now experience call screening in Hindi and English.

Furthermore, the expansion of the feature extends beyond India, offering support for various languages in multiple countries, such as Deutsch in Belgium, Austria, and Switzerland, Espanol in the USA, and French in Belgium and Switzerland, among others. This multilingual support underscores Google’s strategy to cater to diverse linguistic needs globally.

How to activate call screening on your Android phone?

To activate call screening on your smartphone, users can navigate to the Phone app, select Settings, tap on Spam and Call Screen, and then choose ‘automatically screen and decline robocalls’. This setting also allows customization for different types of calls, including spam, possibly faked numbers, first-time callers, and private numbers, along with the option to select a voice for call screening.
