In a day of brisk trading, stocks in India’s NIFTY 500 index experienced some notable swings on Friday, with Castrol India, GAIL, and Allcargo Logistics leading the gains, while Polycab India and Varun Beverages faced significant declines.

Castrol India was the day’s top performer, with its stock price soaring to ₹162.55 from the previous close of ₹151.70, registering a robust increase of 7.15%. Following closely was GAIL, which climbed up to ₹151.50 from ₹140.70, marking an impressive increase of 7.68%.

Allcargo Logistics also saw a significant rise, with its stock price escalating to ₹307.00 from ₹284.95, recording a sturdy 7.74% increase. The pharmaceutical sector witnessed strong performances, with JB Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals surging to ₹1,618.85 from ₹1,487.00, an 8.87% jump, and PPL Pharma Ltd. (PPL Pharma) climbing 9.0% to ₹140.50 from ₹128.90.

On the downside, Polycab India was the biggest loser, with its stock price dropping to ₹5,359.30 from ₹5,619.30, a decline of 4.63%. Varun Beverages also experienced a fall, slipping to ₹1,238.60 from ₹1,291.30, a drop of 4.08%.
