Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar will no longer be appearing in Vimal Pan Masala ads, as his contract finally runs out.
What Happened: Earlier in 2022, Kumar severed ties with the brand after facing severe backlash for promoting the tobacco company, together with other Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn.
In April 2022, the actor expressed his remorse to his fans via an Instagram post, acknowledging their sentiments towards his association with Vimal Elaichi. Kumar also disclosed his intention to contribute the endorsement fee to a deserving cause.

Despite his withdrawal from the endorsement, a commercial featuring Kumar was broadcast during the Men’s Cricket World Cup in October 2023. The actor again clarified that the ads were filmed in October 2021, thus he has not resumed his role as Vimal’s brand ambassador. He then added that the ads would run till the end of November as per the initial contract.
