In the latest update, Google’s Android app is gearing up to introduce a new Sports widget, a follow-up to the previously released Finance Watchlist. Currently featured in the beta channel for Google app version 14.49.38.29, this widget aims to enhance sports enthusiasts’ experience by offering quick access to game details.

What to know? As reported by 9To5Google, this new feature showcases teams that users are following, offering information on upcoming, live, or past matches. Each match is displayed in a card format, complete with date, time, scores, and league info. Clicking on these cards leads directly to Google’s comprehensive Knowledge Graph for deeper insights.

The widget’s layout is flexible, allowing users to choose between a one- or two-column interface. The latter option highlights a standout game at the top, and users can resize the widget to cover the entire home screen if they choose.

Users can use a handy refresh option and toggle between viewing “Your games” and “Trending games.” The widget’s settings also enable personalization, including team preferences, and offer suggestions based on previous search activities.

Incorporating Google’s Dynamic Color technology, this Sports widget expands the capabilities of the Google Search app, complementing the existing Finance Watchlist widget. Anticipation is high for the rollout of this sports-focused feature in the stable version of the Google app soon.
