Google has unveiled the best apps and games of 2023 in India, highlighting a year where self-care, personal growth, and e-commerce apps reigned supreme. On the gaming front, Indian developers made a global impact, with their games reaching over 2.5 billion monthly active users across 190 markets on Google Play.

What to know: The coveted title of the best app of the year went to Level SuperMind, an AI-powered platform designed to enhance mindfulness through a blend of meditation, exercises, journals, and sleep stories. AI also played a key role in other top apps like Stimuler, an AI-driven voice app aiding in English proficiency, and SwiftChat, which utilizes AI to support students and teachers.

THAP: Your Happiness Gym, a therapy app, was recognized as the top app in the self-care and personal growth category. For personal growth, Infinity Learn and upGrad stood out, alongside AmbitionBox, which assists in informed career decisions.

In gaming, Monopoly Go! led the pack, while Subway Surfers Blast claimed the Users' Choice game award. Mighty Doom won in the Best Pick Up & Play category, while Battlegrounds Mobile India and EA SPORTS FC Mobile Soccer earned recognition in the Best Ongoing Game category.

Indianization steals the limelight: The year also saw a surge in localization for Indian gamers, with Battle Stars: 4v4 TDM & BR winning the Best Made in India game. International titles like Road to Valor: Empires and Pokémon Go integrated Indian elements, reflecting a global gaming community increasingly attuned to Indian culture.
