OpenAI’s former President and Chairman Greg Brockman just dropped a tech bombshell: ChatGPT Voice is now available for all users! This means you can now have actual conversations with ChatGPT – it’ll listen and respond back, just like chatting with a friend. Brockman announced this game-changing update on X, amidst the whirlwind of leadership changes at OpenAI.

“ChatGPT Voice rolled out for all free users. Give it a try — it totally changes the ChatGPT experience,” Brockman shared on X. Despite the ongoing chaos and the threat of a mass employee walkout at OpenAI, the team is pushing forward, rolling out this exciting feature just in time for Thanksgiving.

Here’s the cool part: ChatGPT Voice comes with five human-like voices – Juniper, Sky, Breeze, Ember, and Cove. They sound way more natural than Siri or Alexa. It’s free for everyone, upgrading from its initial paid-user-only status.

Developed using OpenAI’s Whisper technology, ChatGPT Voice analyzes just a few seconds of a real person’s voice to create endless conversational possibilities. Spotify is even using this tech to translate podcasts into multiple languages.

How do you use ChatGPT Voice?

It’s simple. Open the ChatGPT app, choose one of the five voices, and start talking. The AI will listen and respond in the selected voice, making the experience more seamless and engaging than typing.

In the midst of OpenAI’s internal struggles, ChatGPT Voice stands out as a remarkable innovation, changing how we interact with AI and possibly setting a new standard for voice technology.
