Google is enhancing the user experience on its Drive mobile app for both Android and iOS users, making file management more intuitive and efficient.

What’s New? The update brings a more dynamic ‘suggested view’ to the homepage. This feature smartly displays a variety of files you might be looking for, including those you’ve recently worked on, shared, or edited. This change mirrors a similar update made to the Google Drive desktop version for MacOS and Windows back in 2021.

Another significant change is the replacement of the notifications view with an ‘activity view,’ a feature already familiar to web users. This new view consolidates important notifications like pending access requests, recent comments, and approvals awaiting your attention, all in one handy spot.

Interestingly, there’s no specific setting to toggle this new feature on or off. If you don’t like the home tab, the app will remember your preference and automatically open to the last tab you used, be it ‘Shared’ or ‘Files.’

Availability? Android users have already started receiving this update, and iOS users joined the party on November 10, 2023. This enhancement is available to everyone using Google Drive, whether you’re a Google Workspace customer or have a personal Google Account.
