Wagh Bakri Tea Group has announced the tragic passing of their Executive Director, Parag Desai, at the age of 49 due to a brain haemorrhage.
What Happened: Desai suffered a brain haemorrhage after a fall near his home last week, which was reportedly caused by an attack from stray dogs. He was hospitalized with a severe head injury and the company confirmed his passing in a social media post.
Congress MP Shaktisinh Gohil, in expressing his sorrow, stated, “Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner of Wagh Bakri Tea passed away. He had a brain haemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India.”
As one of two executive directors of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group, Desai played a crucial role in the company’s evolution into tea lounges and e-commerce. He was in charge of the group’s sales, marketing, and export departments and was also an expert tea taster and evaluator.
The incident that led to Desai’s hospitalization occurred on October 15, when he fell outside his residence while trying to evade an attack from street dogs. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and was later transferred to Zydus Hospital for surgery. After a week of being on a ventilator, Desai passed away at the private hospital in Ahmedabad on October 22.
