This Small-Cap Tile-Maker Wants To Be An AI Company And The Internet Is As Confused As All Of Us

Dhyaani Tile and Marblez Ltd., known for its tile business, is considering a name change that hints at a dive into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) without anything to really show for it.

What Happened? According to a recent exchange filing, the company is mulling over adopting the moniker “Dhyaanii Artificial Intelligence Ltd.” or “Dhyyaani Artificial Intelligence Ltd.” Yet, there’s no word on any actual foray into AI or related technologies.

The curious name change caught the attention of Helios Capital's Founder and Fund Manager, Samir Arora, who shared it on X (previously Twitter). The online community was quick to jest, drawing parallels to past trends where companies, in an attempt to appear more tech-savvy, appended buzzwords like “IT services” or “dot com” to their names. More recently, some even jumped on the crypto bandwagon by integrating terms like “blockchain” into their titles.

AI is more than just a buzzword: The allure of AI is undeniable. Global chip giant Nvidia Corp. is ramping up production to meet the surging demand for its graphic processors, essential for AI operations. Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, during his recent visit to India, even touted the nation as a potential AI superpower.

In other developments, Dhyaani Tile and Marblez announced a bonus share issue and the inception of a new subsidiary, Dhyani Cyberrnest Pvt. But the AI name inclusion remains the talk of the town, underscoring the magnetic pull of buzzwords in the business world.
