Paytm Launches New Soundbox Supporting Card Payments

Paytm on Monday announced the launch of the Paytm Card Soundbox. The new soundbox will enable merchants to accept both mobile and card payments across all Visa, Mastercard, American Express and RuPay networks with ‘tap and pay'.

With its built-in NFC functionality and 4G connectivity, merchants can accept card payments up to ₹5,000. The device also boasts a 4W speaker for clear payment alerts, a long battery life of five days, and multilingual support.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder & CEO of Paytm, emphasized the company’s dedication to India’s small businesses. He believes that the Card Soundbox will merge the two primary requirements of merchants: mobile payments and card payments.

As per the payment giant’s statement, NPCI, Visa, and American Express also lauded the innovation, recognising its potential to further digitise the Indian economy and accelerate cashless transactions.
