Samsung’s betting big on foldable phones in India, and the numbers are backing them up. The tech giant’s Senior VP, Raju Pullan, dropped some impressive figures recently: pre-bookings for their latest Galaxy Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5 have raked in a whopping ₹1,500 crore. That’s a 50% jump from their previous foldable models.

What Happened? “India’s loving the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5,” Pullan remarked in an interview with PTI, revealing that over 150,000 eager tech enthusiasts have already pre-booked. The company’s now eyeing foldable phones to make up a solid 30% of their premium segment revenue this year.

But who’s driving this foldable frenzy? Pullan points to the younger crowd, with the Flip5 being a hit among the under-35s, thanks to its sleek design. The Fold 5, on the other hand, is catching the eyes of the 25-40 age bracket.

Interestingly, it’s not just the big cities fueling this demand. As per the Korean giant, tier 3 and 4 towns are showing just as much enthusiasm, suggesting foldable phones are going mainstream across India.

Clever financing options: Price-wise, the Galaxy Fold 5 ranges between ₹1.54 lakh to ₹1.85 lakh, while the Flip5 sits between ₹99,999 and ₹1.09 lakh. Pullan attributes their success to smart strategies like the 24-month EMI option, making these premium devices more accessible.

With global foldable phone shipments set to soar, and Apple’s entry into the foldable arena expected by 2025, Samsung’s early moves in India might just give them the edge they’re looking for.
