Launched on July 14 after pandemic-induced delays, Chandrayaan-3 is on a historic trajectory. If all goes as planned, India will be the pioneer to touch down on the moon’s elusive south pole. And here’s the kicker: India’s doing this without burning a hole in its pocket.

The mission’s budget? A modest ₹615 crore, making it one of India’s most economical space ventures. To break it down, the lander, rover, and propulsion came in at ₹250 crore, while launch services rounded off at ₹365 crore.
For a fun comparison, consider this: Tom Cruise’s recent ‘Mission: Impossible’ flick’s budget was anywhere between ₹1,600 crore to ₹2,400 crore, while the budget for the local film ‘Adipurush’ stood at ₹700 crore.
In fact, Chandrayaan-3 is even more cost-effective than its older sibling, Chandrayaan-2, which had a ₹978 crore price tag.
