Why Ashneer Grover Did Not Hire Virat Kohli For BharatPe Ad Campaign

Ashneer Grover, co-founder of BharatPe, once rejected Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma for an ad campaign for the payments giant.

In a podcast with the YouTube channel Genuine Bande, Grover said that he was approached by an ad agency broker for an IPL sponsorship deal. As per Grover, it is during this conversation, that the agent suggested to Grover that he could hire Kohli and Sharma for an ad campaign.

However, the 41-year-old refused the offer over pricing. Then Grover asked the agent to get him 11 other cricket players for half the price -the price was left out of the podcast- that the agent had asked for Kohli and Sharma. “That is the deal I did,” Grover added.

He also said that when he met Kohli later, he narrated the same story to him, and was complimented by the ace cricketer for his business tactic.

The podcast, uploaded on Dec 21, 2022, currently has over 23 lakh views on YouTube with over 90,000 likes.
