Paytm’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma was in for a surprise when he stumbled upon Slack’s quirky patch note on the App Store. Taking to his X profile, he amusingly questioned, “What kind of bug fix description is this?” Well, Slack isn’t new to this game of words.

What Happened? For those scratching their heads, Slack has a history of crafting poetic, almost whimsical patch notes. This time around, they described a bug fix with a delightful metaphor about queuing.

The note read, “When waiting in queue, it’s generally considered polite to order oneself single-file… Expediency is also polite, so feel free to queue your uploads once more.” A playful nod to a bug that hindered multiple file uploads.

Making bug fixes fun to read: But this isn’t a one-off. Slack’s copywriters have been weaving magic with their words for a while, turning mundane bug fixes into delightful reads.

This refreshing approach stands out in a world filled with generic tech updates. And while the update might surprise Sharma, many internet users already love Slack’s lyrical update style.

In March, for example, Slack’s poetic approach to a bug fix described a faulty back button in terms of the linear progression of time. The note humorously hinted at life’s lack of second chances, contrasting it with the app’s fixed back button.
