Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) is set to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Thiruporur Taluk, Chengalpattu District, near Chennai, following an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government.
What Is It For: This ₹515 crore investment over five years aims to bolster GCPL’s production capabilities and market presence.
The facility, strategically located for southern markets, will create over 400 jobs, emphasizing a gender-balanced workforce with 50% women and 5% from the LGBTQ and PWD communities.
Adhering to environmental standards, the plant will be IGBC and LEED Certified, incorporating energy-efficient technologies, waste reduction, and water conservation measures. Embracing Industry 4.0, it will integrate advanced IT solutions for enhanced efficiency.
Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairperson of GCPL, highlighted the company’s commitment to quality and affordability. Sudhir Sitapati, MD & CEO of GCPL, emphasized the plant’s role in optimizing operations. Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, M. K. Stalin, welcomed the partnership for its potential positive impact on the local economy.
