Several creators on X, formerly known as Twitter, have received payments from the social media platform for the content created and the engagement generated.
What’s Going On: Elon Musk’s X had previously announced that it will share ad revenue earned on the site with creators. The revenue-sharing program is only open to creators who have shelled out money for a Twitter Blue subscription and distributes the revenue made by ads placed in replies to their tweets.
A Twitter Blue subscription currently costs around ₹900 a month, while an annual plan is priced at around ₹9,400.
Several popular creators in India on Tuesday shared screenshots of their earnings from the app, which could run into lakhs of rupees, as per initial data.
These payments would more than cover the cost of getting a blue tick on X. However, the quantum of payments will probably depend on the size of a creator’s following and the engagement they generate.
While it is not clear how the size of payments are determined at the moment, Twitter has said that accounts need to have at least 15 million impressions on tweets over the last three months to be eligible for payouts.
Meanwhile, even smaller Indian creators have cheered the news as they see it as a sign of good things to come on the microblogging platform.
