In a recent development, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced the temporary closure of Gate No 8 at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station for civil renovation work on July 19, 2023.
What Happened: The DMRC, in a tweet, informed commuters that Gate No 8 at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station would remain closed for the day due to civil renovation work. The corporation advised passengers to use Gate No 7 for entry and exit. The tweet read, "Entry/exit from Gate No 8 at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will remain closed from 19/07/2023 (Wednesday) for civil renovation work. Passengers can use Gate No 7 for entry/exit.”
Why It Matters: The temporary closure of Gate No 8 could potentially disrupt the daily commute of thousands of passengers who rely on the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, one of the busiest metro stations in Delhi. This comes after the DMRC had to shut down the entry and exit at the Yamuna Bank Metro station last week due to floods. However, it was reopened after the water level in the Yamuna dropped.
