Amazon's Indian Exports To Hit $8 Billion Milestone This Year

E-commerce giant Amazon is on track to exceed $8 billion (₹65,823 crore) in cumulative exports from India by the end of 2023, The Economic Times reported. Through its Amazon Global Selling program, the company has reached 125,000 exporters, with over 1,200 of them crossing ₹1 crore in sales in 2022.

The company is also maintaining its target of $20 billion (₹1.65 lakh crore) in Indian exports by 2025, doubling the previous target.

Exporter Demographics: States like Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh had the highest number of exporters in 2022. Many exporters also hailed from tier 2 cities and beyond, including Haridwar in Uttarakhand, Kolhapur in Maharashtra, and Tiruvallur in Tamil Nadu. Twenty-five cities in India saw cumulative exports cross $10 million last year.

Popular Product Categories: Toys saw the greatest growth among all product categories, witnessing over 50% growth year on year, followed by kitchenware at over 35%, beauty at over 25%, and luggage at over 20%. Products in categories such as leather goods and apparel are also gaining wide acceptance.
