Shares of the Bombay Stock Exchange surged over 9% to hit an intraday high of ₹664.45 on Monday. As per the latest shareholding data, Infosys Co-Founder Senapathy “Kris” Gopalakrishnan owns a 1.18% stake in the company.

What Happened: The massive surge today comes as the exchange announced that its board will meet on July 6 to consider a share buyback. The stock climbed upwards as soon as the announcement was made at around 11 am today.

Gopalakrishnan owns 1.18% or 1.6 million shares of the company. On Friday, when the BSE share price closed at ₹608.55, the value of his holding was around ₹96.91 crore. Today, with the surge, the value of his stake went up to ₹105.8 crore. An increase of around ₹9 crore.

Price Action: BSE share price was up 8.11% to trade at ₹657.90 in the late hours of trading on Monday.
