President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will host a formal dinner, featuring a special vegetarian menu, as a highlight of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the U.S.

What’s On The Menu? The event marks Biden’s third state dinner, following those for French President Emmanuel Macron and South Korea’s Suk-Yeol.

Per a Hindustan Times report, preparation for Modi’s visit involves plant-based chef Nina Curtis, enlisted to create the dinner menu, and Grammy-winning violinist Joshua Bell to provide the evening’s music. Chef Curtis will collaborate with White House chefs Cris Comerford and Susie Morrison for the dinner.

Modi will be staying overnight at the White House as a guest. Upon his arrival, he is expected to receive a warm welcome from thousands of Indian Americans.

An Important Visit: The visit promises to open doors for India to access advanced technologies that the U.S. typically reserves for allies. The relationship between the nations goes beyond politics to include business and economic ties.

A key demonstration of this is India’s purchase of 31 armed MQ-9B Sea and Sky Guardian drones. Modi’s visit will also cover discussions on cooperation in semiconductors, cyberspace, aerospace, strategic infrastructure, commercial space projects, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence, according to a senior Indian official.
