OnePlus India's Driving Force, Navnit Nakra, Steps Down As CEO

Navnit Nakra, OnePlus India’s CEO, has decided to leave the company after a three-year tenure. OnePlus confirmed his departure and expressed gratitude for his contributions to the company’s India operations.

What Happened? Per an IANS report, prior to joining OnePlus in 2020, Nakra worked at Apple as the Head of Affordability in India, where he implemented strategic finance offers across various product categories. At OnePlus, he initially held the position of Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer before being promoted to CEO, overseeing regional sales operations.

In a heartfelt letter to the OnePlus community, Nakra revealed his decision to step away from OnePlus in order to pursue his passion and spend more time with his family. He expressed his pleasure at having been part of the OnePlus community and hoped to remain connected, despite not being on the business team anymore.

Under Nakra’s leadership, OnePlus cemented its position in the mid-premium smartphone segment with the successful launch of its Nord series. The company has also broadened its product range to include Internet of Things (IoT) devices like tablets, wireless earbuds, and smart TVs.

For 2023, OnePlus plans to introduce multiple 5G products, including a 5G Wi-Fi router and its first foldable smartphone.

According to Counterpoint Research, OnePlus posted a 72% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2023, becoming the fastest-growing brand.
